What is effortless living?

You may have noticed our tagline 'bespoke homes for effortless living' and wondered just exactly what that means. We believe that homes should feel effortless to live in, you shouldn't have to be battling your home to get things done. For us, this is all about designing functional spaces that help you create more time for the things you love. It's also about creating spaces that become your happy place - life feels more effortless when your environment brings you peace and happiness. There are 5 specific aspects of effortless living that we like to think about every time we design a home:

1 | Tailoring the spaces specifically to you

Your home should be a true reflection of you - both in terms of what you love, and how you live. We aim to get to know you well at the start of the project so that we can design spaces that are unique to you. This means that we can incorporate the colours, styles and special touches that make your home a joy to be in. It also means that the spaces function for your specific lifestyle - whether it's incorporating a specific hobby, a daily habit or a cultural need. Your home can support and enhance your lifestyle in a way that feels natural and stress-free.

2 | Making domestic work easier

When you are busy, all those unavoidable tasks like laundry and cleaning can feel stressful and overwhelming. When we design kitchens, laundries and any other other space, we always think about how you will live in it and how to make using the space easier. Usually it comes down to getting the layout right and grouping things that happen together to maximise functionality. Selecting the right materials and mechanisms also makes a big difference to easing the stress of domestic work. We always aim to create beautiful spaces that won't be a nuisance for you to use, clean and maintain.

3 | Removing clutter

Clutter is one of the main problems that clients mention when we meet. Often clients feel overwhelmed by the clutter in their current home and they need more storage. We usually combat this through clever storage and incorporating the right type of storage exactly where you need it. This could be an entry linen that is redesigned to have a hanging rail and shoe storage, or a lounge that needs easy to access storage for all your board games. We love designing joinery that works for you, and for any future needs.

4 | Maximising comfort

Comfort comes to play in many different ways in a home. It includes things like ensuring the light is optimised for the needs of each space, including smart technology that simplifies tasks, and ensuring all spaces are ergonomically designed. We also think about comfort in connection - creating spaces that are also comfortable to enjoy as a large group or together with your immediate family.

5 | Using biophilic design

No matter who you are, things like natural light, greenery and natural materials can really enhance how you feel. Bringing key elements from the outdoors into the home has been shown to improve our physical and mental well-being as well as increase productivity and creativity levels. If you look through our projects, you will see that we love creating cosy interiors filled with layered natural textures, large windows and little nods to the outdoors through colours and shapes.

I hope this has been helpful and inspiring! If you want to find out more about how we can help you with your project, get in contact with us below:
