Summer is officially here and it's been a warm one so far! If you're planning to upgrade your alfresco to include an outdoor kitchen for entertaining, then you've come to the right place. Alfresco Kitchens are becoming more and more popular, particularly since the lockdowns meant that people were spending more time at home than ever. We've made a list of our top 5 alfresco kitchen must haves for your to check out below:
1 | Outdoor-friendly Materials
It's vital that you design your outdoor kitchen to last through all seasons. This means using materials that are made for outdoor use like Polytec's Alfresco Range or Caesarstone's Outdoor Collection. Other materials that work well outside include terrazzo, concrete, porcelain and timbers.
2 | BBQ
It just wouldn't be an outdoor kitchen if there wasn't a BBQ involved. We love using in-built ones to seamlessly blend in with the rest of the outdoor kitchen, and there is a huge variety of sizes and options available. If your alfresco area is fairly closed off, you may need to also add in a rangehood above, and don't forget a space for the gas bottle if using an LPG BBQ.
3 | Sink
A sink is a must if you'd like to make your outdoor kitchen as functional and practical as possible. The sink doesn't have to be big, but it's important to consider if you'd like to wash large items in there. It's also important to ensure that the sink and tap selected will work well outside - stainless steel is always a great option here!
4 | Bar fridge
A bar fridge will help make your outdoor cooking and entertaining experience as relaxing and functional as possible! If you have the budget and you're a wine lover, you may want to consider a temperature controlled wine fridge instead (or as well) so that you can keep all your favourite drinks handy.
5 | Luxurious extras
If you've got the space, you may consider including some luxurious additions to the outdoor kitchen like a pull out bin, a small dishwasher, a cutlery drawer or even a pizza oven! If the space and budget allows, your options are endless!
